Song Phuong vegetable village is located in the southwest of Hanoi, about 20K from Hanoi downtown. Traveling by bicycle is a great way to see the suburbs of Hanoi, Hanoi countryside, local temples, pagoda, and to experience the rich culture of Vietnam. At 8:30 in the morning, we leave Hanoi and drive west to Song Phuong Vegetable Village. This is one of big vegetable village in Hanoi. There are vegetables gardens, tropical fruits and very hospitable local people. Arriving around 09:00 am, we will visit the Vang market is open on the days 2,4,7,9,12,14,17,19,22,24,27,29 (lunar calendar). On these days, people from surrounding villages come here to sell their pigs, chickens, ducks, dogs, clothes… and animals, seeds, agriculture tools…The Vang market starts in the early morning and finishes around 1:30 pm. We continue touring around vegetable fields growing a variety of produce including: cauliflower, cabbage, tomatoes, green peas, Chinese peas and corn, as well as fruit gardens with oranges, papaya and more., Around 9:30 am, we will join a farmer working in his field. You will have opportunity to help in the work of the small land-holding. Depend on the season this will involve ranking, sowing, water greens, picking greens and other garden activities. You will have be having opportunity to ask experienced for local farmers about cultivation techniques and lifestyle. Lunch will be served with local family.
