Mekong Delta Vietnam is one of Vietnam’s most popular destination for cyclists and fans of two wheels travel. The Mekong Delta region offers different cycling itineraries which can fit anyone’s needs.

The Mekong Delta Vietnam, as all deltas, it receives the bounty of alluvial soil from the upper Mekong, and as such is a very rich and lush area, covered with rice fields. It produces about half of the total of Vietnam’s agricultural output, and is the place for timeless scenery of farmers planting or harvesting rice.

The Mekong splits in Cambodia into two main rivers, the Bassac (Hau Giang) and the First river (Tien Giang), then in Vietnam into a more complex system, creating a maze of small canals, rivers and arroyos interspersed with villages and floating markets.

Life in the Mekong Delta revolves much around the river, and all the villages are often accessible by river as well as by road.

Mekong Delta Vietnam has very pleasant weather and share the same climate as the south of Vietnam. It doesn’t change much throughout the year, the average is about 23 – 34 degrees celsius.

The weather in this region has divided into two seasons:

Rainy season

The rainy season falls in between late April or early May to the end of October or early November. 90% of the year’s rainfall occurs during this season. Rainfall can happens very fast and last for a couple of hours and then stop.

Dry season

The dry season begins from November or early December, and last until late March or early April. It’s also the best time to visit this region.
