Yen The Bac Giang

Yen The Bac Giang, one of nine rural districts of Bac Giang province is located in the Northeast region of Vietnam, about 3 hours drive from Hanoi. Yen The district consists of 2 townships and 19 communes including Cau Go, Bo Ha, Dong Vuong, Canh Nau, Dong Ky, Huong Vi, Dong Son, Xuan Luong, Tam Tien, Tien Thang, Tan Hiep, Tam Hiep, An Thuong, Phong Xuong, Dong Lac, Hong Ky, Dong Huu, Tan Soi, Dong Tien, and Dong Tam.

The Yen The Uprising, last nearly three decades from 1884 to 1913 and was led by Hoang Hoa Tham to battle the French colonialists. Despite its ultimate failure, the uprising left an imprint on the country’s heritage of battling foreign invaders. It also is emblematic of the broader virtues of Vietnamese heroism and patriotism.

The Yen The Festival is the district’s most important travel activity. It is organized on 16th March every year in Cau Go Town. This has become the largest Festival in Bac Giang for a long time ago and until now.

The best way to get to Yen The from Hanoi is to rent a car with driver. You will be picked up at your place in Hanoi and brought to Yen The directly. The journey takes about 2 hours on road. Since Yen The is located away from Vietnam’s eastern coast and the East Sea, the incidence of hurricanes and storms is rare, although whirlwinds and hailstorms are a localized phenomenon in a few mountainous districts.
