How to get to Bac Ninh?

The most convenient way to get to Bac Ninh city from Hanoi is to hire a private car with driver. You can ask the driver to pick you up at any place in Hanoi. The private transfer takes approximately one hour depending on local traffic.

Hanoi Bac Ninh train is also available. But it is not convenient as the day train starts from Yen Vien Train Station that is located outside Hanoi city center. It takes about a half hour drive to get to the Yen Vien station from downtown Hanoi.

There are cheap buses with several daily departures from Hanoi to Bac Ninh city. The journey takes approximately one hour. Bus tickets are provided at Long Bien bus station, Luong Yen, Giap Bat, Gia Lam and My Dinh.

When to go cycling in Bac Ninh?

Bac Ninh in March, April, and May

Humidity and temperatures combine to make this season feel warm. Highs range from 33.6°C and 21.4°C with warmer temperatures in the later months. Rain is somewhat common with 2 to 7 days of significant precipitation per month. This is the best time to take a bike tour in Bac Ninh. Taking Bac Ninh cycling day trips and multi-day bike tours are both possible.

The middle-year months have uncomfortable weather with high temperatures that are quite warm, at about 35 – 38°C. These months see the most precipitation with 9 to 10 days of precipitation per month. At Vietnam Cycling we recommend only short bike ride in Bac Ninh such as a half day biking tour and a day cycle tour with support vehicle.

Bac Ninh in September, October, and November

Fall daily highs range from 32.3°C and 24.3°C, which will feel very nice given the humidity and wind. It rains 1 to 7 days per month. This is another great time for cycling in Bac Ninh.

Bac Ninh in December, January, and February

Weather is somewhat cool this time of year in Bac Ninh to be enjoyable for warm weather travelers. The average high during this season is between 23.6°C and 18.4°C. On average, it rains 1 to 2 times per month. Taking a bike ride in the region will be a good choice. Many famous festivals occur after the Lunar New Year which fall into January or February. Cycling in Bac Ninh in this period of time will bring you an opportunity to enjoy the amazingly cultural activities here and have deep understanding about Vietnamese culture.

Do Temple

Do temple is a place of worship to 8 kings of Ly dynasty. It was built by Ly Cong Uan (the first king of Ly dynasty) about 1000 years ago. Do temple festival is held on 15th of the lunar March commemorating Ly Cong Uan king (who assumed his kingship on 15th of the lunar March in 1010).

Dinh Bang Communal House

Dinh Bang communal hall is one of the largest and finest village communal houses in Vietnam. It is located in Dinh Bang village, Tu Son district, in Bac Ninh Province of the Red River Delta, 17 km from the nation’s capital, Hanoi. The construction started in 1700 and was completed 36 years later.

Dong Ho Painting Village

Dong Ho painting village produces famous Dong Ho painting, a unique art product of Vietnamese. The village is located on the left bank of the Duong River, about 35 km from Hanoi.

Phat Tich Pagoda

Phat Tich Pagoda is a cultural and historical relic which contains cultural and sculptural values of the Ly Dynasty. Phat Tich Pagoda was as an importance national pagoda, where the Kings of Ly Dynasty often come to hold the Buddhist ceremonies and pray peaceful and prosperous for the country and safety for people. This was not only a Buddhist cultural center but also the place where Buddhist monks were trained.

Phu Lang Village

Phu Lang pottery village is in Que Vo district, about 60km to the north-east of Hanoi. It was known as the pottery centre of former Kinh Bac land. Taking a bike tour to Phu Lang, visitors will have the opportunity to admire the peaceful countryside landscapes on the bank of Cau River and also learn about the history of Phu Lang pottery as well as study how to produce pottery products.

Bac Ninh self-guided bike tours
